Our Family Bereavement Group runs weekly over 5 weeks. The sessions are for children who have been referred to Butterflies, as well as for their supporting adult.  Please book a place below for yourself and the child or children you are supporting if you have received an invitation to attend via e-mail.

At first, the idea of taking part in group therapy can seem intimidating. Sharing your story and thoughts with strangers can feel scary. But group therapy, in which a Butterflies counsellor leads a small group of up to 8 people, can be very helpful - and after attending their first session, the vast majority of children found they loved it.

Here's what children said they felt before attending: Here's what they said after their first session:
"A bit anxious because I didn't know them" "Happy, relieved, free of worries"
"Scared and feeling if I was going to be criticised" "I felt a bit better because I knew everyone"
"a bit worried because I thought it would be different" "So, so, so, so, so happy"

Hearing from others with similar issues can help you and your child see that you’re not alone in facing challenges - many children and young people experience a sense of relief. Hearing how other people deal with their problems can be very encouraging.
