Suicide Prevention Expand AMPARO's parallel work in suicide prevention is developing. Although we do not offer clinical prevention techniques, we do provide specialist training in Suicide and Self-Harm Awareness, which is proving increasingly popular. Our half day training has been developed for GPs, Practice Managers and Staff NHS staff Local authority staff Professionals such as taxi drivers, barbers and those working in the hospitality industry who come into contact with people who may demonstrate suicidal ideation. It aims to raise awareness and increase confidence in providing effective support to those presenting with suicidal ideation and self-harm. Please contact us to discuss your training needs if you feel we can help. As part of our AMPARO Community Response Planning work, we support the wider community whenever there is a high profile suicide or one which will have a significant impact, such as a school pupil or someone working in a large workplace. With the support of the Mark McQueen Foundation, Listening Ear has begun delivering a fast-track support / therapy service in St Helens for men who have attempted suicide. Part of this work involves fully understanding the men's needs, with the ambition of co-designing a larger service that could reach more beneficiaries in the future. This short online training session from the Zero Suicide Alliance covers ways in which you can help people who are feeling suicidal.
