Listening Ear is managed by a board of trustees who bring high-level skills, knowledge and experience to the organisation. The Board adds its skill-set to the staff's and ensures that the Charity operates in accordance with charity and company law, remains commercially viable and fulfils its contractual obligations. The Trustees meet quarterly.

Listening Ear has undergone a period of Board Development and now has a full Director’s Recruitment Pathway. The current Board has the following high-level and specialist skillset to add to the staff complement: safeguarding policies, procedures and training; Primary education and SEN Training; Commissioning; Child mental health; Older people’s care, carers and community activities; Board development; Volunteer management and volunteering; Listening and counselling; Disability awareness and planning; Capital development and facilities management. All Directors are subject to enhanced DBS checks, attend mandatory safeguarding training and attend an annual board development day.
