“Although I had heard of Butterflies through word of mouth, my knowledge, prior to becoming a volunteer in the service, was very basic. Through my friends experience of attending Butterflies with her son after his Dad died, I was drawn to its volunteer program. I had a desire to learn new skills and to work with children. It has a great community of counsellors all there to help children through difficult times. I am so grateful for the opportunity, all the training and the amazing support I have received .

Now, a year on, I know there is so much more to this vital service than I first thought. Along with bereavement, the service supports children dealing with separation and loss. When you see a lot of the children leaving with smiles on their faces, it really leaves you with a sense of satisfaction. I would recommend anyone who can volunteer their time to do so within Butterflies.”
